Meet Our Musicians

Tori Yaussy, Flute

Tori Yaussy is a versatile orchestral and chamber musician known for her technical precision and lyrical artistry. Currently based in Houston, Tori has established herself as a sought-after performer across a wide range of musical settings, from contemporary collectives to traditional liturgical ensembles.

Tori’s orchestral experience spans the continent, including tenures as Principal Flute with Opera Fairbanks and auxiliary flute with the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Alaska. Locally, she performs frequently with the Second Baptist Church, Chapelwood United Methodist, and Tallowood Baptist Church orchestras.

Beyond the stage, Tori is a dedicated advocate for the flute community. She currently serves as President of the Houston Flute Club (2024–2026) and previously as a member of the Flute Clubs and Choirs Committee for the National Flute Association (NFA). Her contributions to the field include serving as an NFA competition judge and a contributor to the NFA’s flagship publication, The Flutist Quarterly.

As an educator, Tori balances high-level technical rigor with a supportive, personalized approach. Formerly on the faculty at Purdue University (West Lafayette), she has spent years mentoring students through lessons and masterclasses in Houston-area public schools. She now maintains a private studio, teaching a select group of dedicated students from her home.

Tori’s artistry was featured at the 2024 NFA Convention in San Antonio, and her recording credits include a soloist role on the album Everything Belongs, Songs from the Center by composer Peter Johns. Tori holds a Master of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied under Dr. Jonathan Keeble, and a Bachelor of Music from DePaul University, where she was a student of Alyce Johnson, Mark Sparks, and Mary Stolper.

Emily Moscoso, Oboe

Emily Moscoso’s artistic excellence has taken her on a path that spans prestigious orchestras and renowned institutions across the United States. Throughout two seasons with the San Diego Symphony and one season with the Colorado Symphony, Ms. Moscoso’s oboe mastery flourished, paving her path to becoming one of Houston’s most sought-after freelance musicians. This determination recently culminated in her appointment as Principal Oboe with both the Symphony of Southeast Texas and the Mid-Texas Symphony. Her educational foundation spans The Juilliard School and the University of Texas at Austin, where she honed her craft studying with Elaine Douvas, Rebecca Henderson, and Andrew Parker.

Beyond her role as Principal Oboist, Ms. Moscoso’s versatility shines through her frequent collaborations with the Houston Symphony, ROCO, the Houston Ballet, the Fort Worth Symphony, the Austin Symphony, and other esteemed local ensembles.

Ms. Moscoso’s commitment to her art extends beyond the stage, inspiring young musicians through her mentorship and outreach. She has a thriving private studio, and she dedicates spare time to coaching young artists in the Houston Youth Symphony. Her passion for music guides her comprehensive method of teaching, which aims to develop both rich musical expression and technical proficiency.

With each performance, Ms. Moscoso continues to enrich the classical music landscape. Her blend of innate emotional depth and creative ingenuity is a testament to her years of experience in the orchestral realm. Ultimately, Ms. Moscoso seeks to inspire audiences to connect with each other and with themselves through the love of the fine arts.

Haley Houk, Bassoon

Striving to bring joy in all she does, Dr. Haley Houk is an active performer and educator in Houston, Texas. Haley has performed with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, TUTS (Theatre Under the Stars), AURA Contemporary Ensemble, the Texas New Music Ensemble, as well as regional symphonies and ensembles across Texas. An advocate for new chamber music, Haley is heavily involved in ensembles performing works by living composers, and is proud to be a founding member of Vela Ensemble, Houston’s premiere all-female wind quintet.

Haley was one of the few instrumentalists accepted into the 2024 Akropolis Chamber Music Institute held by the Grammy-nominated ensemble the Akropolis Reed Quintet, and has had the opportunity to attend the Texas Music Festival and Fresno Orchestra/Opera Summer Academy. Haley has performed at the International Double Reed Society conference, the Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium, the SHE Festival of Women in Music, as well as performed in Mexico, France, and England.

As an educator, Dr. Houk aims to pass on the tremendous gifts of mentorship and empowerment she has received from previous professors on to her own students. After receiving her master’s degree from Baylor University with Dr. Ann Shoemaker, Haley established her own reputation as a reliable and engaging instructor through her studio success and masterclass teaching across Houston. This reputation has grown through her years in Houston, aided by her expanded network through the University of Houston, where she completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in bassoon performance and minor in Arts Leadership under the guidance of Elise Wagner, affiliate artist of bassoon at UH and the second bassoonist in the Houston Symphony.

Along with her full private bassoon studio, she maintains a double-reed small business and can be seen teaching masterclasses and camps across Texas. A leader in the bassoon community, Haley has served on several nonprofit committees, including the Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium and Vivaldi Competition, where she is the vendor coordinator and marketing collaborator.
